Ulta Haul

ULTA is having a 40% off sale in store and online. (post here) I went into my local ULTA and grabbed some products i’ve been wanting.

Revlon Nearly Naked foundation in 180 medium beige and powder in 030 medium. Youtuber’s have been raving about the powder, and have compared the foundation to Urban Decay’s NAKED skin foundation. Beauty guru itsjudytime does a great comparison review here.

I have a sample of U.D’s version and they are quite similar.
Revlon 1fl oz $9.99 sale:$5.99 vs. Urban Decay 1fl oz $39.
What’s great about a drugstore dupe is that you can always find sales at drugstores.

The NYX matte bronzer in deep tan could be a great alternative to my MAC’s mineralize skin finish in Give Me Sun that I got in a previous post
NYX $9 sale: $5.39 for 9.5g vs. MAC $30 for 10g of product
They aren’t exact dupes (MAC’s is slightly more orange) but they are both great matte bronzers.

I also got two new Revlon lip butters in berry smoothie & raspberry pie and two new Revlon kissable balm stains in sweetheart valentine & crush to add to my collection. (Check out my previous post.)

What I love about lip butters is that for the days where I just want something on my lips that provides moisture, good color pay off, and take no time to apply I turn to these guys. The kissable balm stains are also a great product with all of the above criteria with the addition of a stain. The crayon tip makes it perfect for application and great for on the go.
Lip Butters: $7.49 sale: $4.49
Kissable balm stains:  $8.99 sale: $5.39

Swatches left to right: Berry smoothie, Raspberry Pie, Sweetheart Valentine, and Crush

A few other swatches from my Revlon collection including a couple Revlon matte lipsticks which are also on sale for $4.19 originally $6.99.

First Haul of 2013

1.MAC cleanse off oil. I totally didn’t get the whole cleanse off oil craze until I tried it! It takes off all my makeup, it’s non drying, and is a great cleanser. This is perfect if I feel the need to wash my face a 2nd time. (ex: before, or after the gym, mid-day, etc.) I wish I could afford the famous $60+ Shu Uemura cleanse off oil but for now I’ll stick to the more affordable $21 MAC version. Temptalia does a great, more in depth review here.

2. MACs new and improved refill palette. More sturdy, more room, and much much better! I chose the open well so that I can fit a variety of products. Keep in mind that MAC’s empty palette are magnetized differently so you have to buy sticker magnets to put on the back of your products. I did a review on the old palette and was very disappointed. I am so glad they finally redesigned it! (F.Y.I inside is the eyeshadow twinks

2. MAC face and body foundation in C5. I love this foundation! It makes my skin so dewy and glowy! I have normal skin but in the winter it can be a bit dehydrated so a dewy glow is perfect for winter. My only regret is that I don’t have a pro store in my area so I wasn’t able to purchase the larger version.

Do you have any new products to suggest for 2013? Let me know!

Day 4: 50 day make up challenge.

Day 04: Do you like wearing foundation? (if so, whats your color and favorite, and what tool/s do you use to apply it? brush, sponge, airbrush, etc)

I am usually a medium skin tone depending on the time of year. For everyday use I like to wear the Lush color supplement in dark pink mixed with an SPF lotion. I love this because the proportions of coverage or color can be controlled to my liking. If I want medium coverage I like the Loreal true match or the Kirkland Borghese brand from Costco. They are both light and match themselves nicely to my skin tone. For even more coverage the mousse foundation from Boots at Target is superb. It doubles up as a concealer and leaves a smooth flawless finish.

I usually use a stippling brush by elf I also have a post here, or my tapered foundation brush from my Kirkland brush kit (not sold anymore).

A great tutorial by Lisa Eldridge about makeup application for those with acne. She shows you how you can cover your acne in a non cakey, skin friendly way so that you are helping heal your acne, and not clogging them by putting tons of product on.

What are your beauty lusts?

We all have that list of over the top expensive things we want but can’t have or don’t need. These are just a few things that have been on my wishlist. All things I don’t really need right now but want!

Tart Amazonian clay foundation. $38.00
SPF 15, 12-hour coverage, all natural ingredients. This foundation seems like everything I want! But for 1.7 fl oz, i’m not sure if this would be worth the buy.

Nails INC. magnetic nail polish. $16.00

You put this polish on then flip the magnet on the cap over top of the polish then it makes this cool design. It looks like it would be fun to try, maybe not for keeps.

Korres lip products. Sets range from &15.00-$25.00
This is actually my version of a lip butter. Super creamy, and just enough pigmentation to make your lips full, hydrated, and pink. My lips are super sensitive to certain lip products so the fact that these are made from natural ingredients really make me want to buy all the lip products they have! I own a lip butter and lipstick from them and my lips have never loved a product so much. I want their entire lip line! Do I need it? No…

Urban Decay Naked palette 2. $50.00
The most popular eyeshadow palette in America now has a sequel. I do not own either Naked’s but I have always lusted over them. The perfect everyday palette with just the right amount of nude and matte colors. So pigmented and great for travel. I don’t think I will ever get over this lust until I own it.

Bare Escentuals “the cocktail hour” palette. $40.00

This is such an amazing brand. I was so excited when they started making their products like their mineral veil powder, and eyeshadows compact vs. loose minerals spilling in my bag! I’ve swatched some of these shadows in the store and they are probably one of the most pigmented eyeshadows I’ve ever come a across. So pretty, and now so convenient.

Sigma extravaganza 29 brushes complete kit 18k gold. $510.00
Sigma brushes are always being compared to M.A.C brushes and are a fraction of the cost! This is their complete set in 18k gold. Every brush I will ever need. Very extravagant for sure!

Vanity Girl Hollywood broadway makeup desk. $749.00
I really want a vanity table! I most likely wouldn’t go all out and buy this one, but I wouldn’t mind compromising and putting one together from IKEA or something. But if you owned this would you complain?

What are your beauty lusts? Did you end up caving and buying some of them?
